Hope for Kids Food Drive

Last week during service, we were finally able to meet face to face! Since a few of us were back on campus, we used the time to put up posters around the school to spread the news of our food drive.

Last month we successfully completed our diaper drive. Since there was a rather large second wave of the virus, the cancer hospital became extremely strict with letting people in and out of the hospital. The children there are high risk people, because of their low immunity. Due to the added security measures, it was hard for the staff to go out and buy the things they needed. Their biggest concern was a lack of diapers, so we collected and donated about 600 diapers, which were a great help to the hospital! Hopefully, our annual food drive will be just as successful!

Learning Outcomes:

5. Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively – Working together, we can do and raise much more donations and awareness than we could if we were working by ourselves!

6. Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance – The children suffering in the cancer hospital is definitely an issue of global significance. The fact that as a group, we are working together to help them demonstrates our engagement.

7. Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions – Choosing to be a part of this group was an ethical choice, in my opinion. The fact that in this group we use our time to make a suffering child’s life just a little better, is a wonderful thing to do!
