Spanish!

One of my favorite classes in school is Spanish. Though it is extremely challenging to learn a new language, I really enjoy my classes as well as learning about this beautiful culture. One of the hardest aspects of Spanish is conjugation of the verbs. The language has soooo many different tenses, and it’s very difficult to keep track of what to use when, and how to use it correctly! That’s why I decided to do a little bit of extra studying on the side to ensure that I understand everything we are learning.  This took some creativity…there are many ways to learn a language, and it was up to me to find the most effective ways for me, and to implement them into my daily routine.

One way I am practicing my Spanish outside of class is by watching the show “La Casa de Papel”, also known as Money Heist! Watching it in Spanish bad boosted my listening and speaking skills tremendously! It’s also a fantastic show, and is quickly becoming one of my favorites! I have added a lot of useful words to my vocabulary (a few of which are not very polite!) and can’t wait to continue watching it.

Another way I’m improving my Spanish skills is by taking the help of a tutor. Today was my first session with her, and I think this was a good decision since I will be able to use ample time to go over specific issues I have, without slowing down the pace of the class. Today we went over the different types of past tenses, and when to use them!

Learning Outcomes:

1. Identify your own strengths and develop areas for personal growth – Learning languages has always been a strength of mine. Luckily, I have a fairly good memory, and I really enjoy learning languages, which makes it all the more easier for me to grasp a new language. Of course, I have a long way to go before I am fluent, but I’m excited to grow and develop my skills till I can speak Spanish like a native!
