Final CAS Reflection

Over the last two years, I was able to achieve the original goals I set for myself in DP1 by staying consistent but also be open to trying new things across all three areas.

LO4: Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences- Students demonstrate regular involvement and active engagement in CAS.

Creativity: When in quarantine, creativity was an element that I not just sought chances to incorporate into my life but was something I relied on to ground me. There was no shortage of opportunities to get involved both inside and outside the classroom in the DP Theatre course, because of this, I was able to participate in ISTA workshops. These were immensely helpful as I was able to grow more confident in working with my peers and in being ‘on-screen’. Other creative pursuits included making smoothies and açai bowls, and baking, which is something I already did very often. Experimenting with recipes allowed me to grow in flexibility as a baker, and produce treats that I would not have otherwise.

LO1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth- Students are able to see themselves as individuals with various abilities and skills, of which some are more developed than others.

LO5: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively- Students are able to identify, demonstrate and critically discuss the benefits and challenges of collaboration gained through CAS experiences.

Activity: Over the last two years, fitness is definitely something that I have come to value, especially in regards to health and what it means for the quality of life. It is important to me to stay active and to utilize my body, which I did by simply incorporating movement as part of my daily routine. This could have been going for a morning run or joining a virtual yoga class. Despite not knowing much when I started, I am proud of the fact that I developed an exercise routine that works for me, and has tangible goals that I can work towards.

LO2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process- A new challenge may be an unfamiliar experience or an extension of an existing one. The newly acquired or developed skills may be shown through experiences that the student has not previously undertaken or through increased expertise in an established area.

Service: The need for service has never been greater, and I have made it my goal to contribute to the best of my abilities. Over the last two years, I have been involved in initiatives like GirlsRise and The Margin. I also remained a member of the Hope For Kids service group. I was involved in planning events and fundraisers, and in collaborating to meet common goals. Lastly, as part of my CAS project, I put up posters I designed in the boys’ and girls’ bathrooms about consent and sexual assault awareness.

LO3 Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience Students can articulate the stages from conceiving an idea to executing a plan for a CAS experience or series of CAS experiences. This may be accomplished in collaboration with other participants. Students may show their knowledge and awareness by building on a previous experience, or by launching a new idea or process.

LO6: Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance- Students are able to identify and demonstrate their understanding of global issues, make responsible decisions, and take appropriate action in response to the issue either locally, nationally, or internationally.

LO7: Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions- Students show awareness of the consequences of choices and actions in planning and carrying out CAS experiences.
